Hey, Mary Pat Harnegie and Mary Schleicher here. We are medical librarians at the Cleveland Clinic Alumni Library. We are the 2018 Midwest Chapter/MLA Co-chairs of the Ohio meeting in Cleveland, OH. Cleveland is the birthplace of Rock & Roll and home to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The 2018 Midwest Chapter/MLA planning committee is listening to the heartbeat of Midwest medical librarians and we have found an awesome discovery. That heart wants to Shake, Rattle and Roll…
“Shake Up Some Old Ideas, Rattle Some New Cages, and Roll with the Good times.”
We want to send out some good vibrations….and some excitations. The 2018 meeting site is the Westin Hotel in downtown Cleveland, and the date is October 5-8, 2018. Our keynote speakers – Dr. Patricia Flatley Brennan, new director of NLM, and Catherine Hakala-Ausperk, Librarian extraordinaire, come with messages to address new vistas like big data, precision medicine, and ways to thrive in your work-life balance. Discussion panels will examine new aspects of medical education and technology gadgetry.
Downtown Cleveland has a lot to offer. We are within walking distance to Lake Erie, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lake Science Center, the Q and the Cleveland Cavs basketball, Progressive Field and American League champion Cleveland Indians baseball, Playhouse Square and its 5 theaters of Broadway plays and live theater.
If you are a foodie, Cleveland is the place to be! The restaurants and street food are amazing!
You have to come to see it to believe it! The West Side Market, University Circle and Cleveland Metroparks are waiting for your presence.
The Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association invites you to Cleveland in 2018 to SHAKE, RATTLE and ROLL!
