If you are in Milwaukee on a Saturday afternoon, don’t miss out on the chance to take a free tour of Central Library, the main branch of the Milwaukee Public Library. The library is located just 1/2 mile away from the hotel and it is an architectural wonder.
Free tours of the Central Library with the Friends of Milwaukee Public Library begin at 11 a.m. each Saturday morning in the rotunda. No reservations are required.
The original structure is built of Bedford limestone in the French and Italian Renaissance styles. Several additions have been added over the years. Central Library was designated a landmark by the Milwaukee Historic Preservation Commission in 1982 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building opened to the public on October 3, 1898.
