Fitness Walks in the Capital City-Saturday, Sunday,
Monday, and Tuesday
Acquaint yourself with the rise-and-shine sights and sounds of Springfield
with a 30-minute morning stroll downtown, beginning at 6:30 am.
If you would prefer to walk or jog at your own pace, or to venture out
at a later time of day, city maps will be available at the Hospitality
counter for individual exploration.

On Saturday, October 9, choose a tour that most accommodates your interests.
If you enjoyed the Historic Walks at MLA, then we're sure you will take
pleasure in rounding out your Lincoln perspective with the following
Lincoln and Springfield highlights
Choose from the following interesting and historic options:

8:50 am-12:30 pm. Lincoln's New Salem: $10
fee. Enjoy beautiful fall foliage while exploring the reconstructed
historic timber village where Abraham Lincoln lived and worked from
1831-1837. The bus tour will depart from the Renaissance Hotel at
9:00 am. Saturday, arriving at New Salem State Park at 9:30 am.
After checking in at the Visitor's Center, attendees will explore
the historic village until 11:30 am, when we will board the bus
back to Springfield. The $10 fee includes bus transportation plus
admission/donation to the park.
8:50 am-12:30 pm. Lincoln History Walk: $6.00 fee. Enjoy
a walking tour encompassing historic Springfield sites where Abraham
Lincoln lived and worked. We will tour the beautiful Old State Capitol,
and the Lincoln Herndon Law Offices where Mr. Lincoln practiced
law from 1843-1852. The tour will conclude with a visit to the Lincoln
Home Visitor Center and beautifully restored Lincoln Home, where
the Lincoln family lived for 17 years. The $6.00 fee covers site
donations.
1:00-5:30 pm. Springfield Highlights: $10.00 fee. Spend a
leisurely Saturday afternoon riding the Springfield Trolley to local
highlights, beginning with a visit to Dana-Thomas House, an elaborately
restored Frank Lloyd Wright prairie-style home. We'll then proceed
to the Museum of Funeral Customs, where the history of American
funeral service, grief and mourning customs are showcased in interpretive
exhibits and memorabilia including jewelry, clothing, equipment
and instruments. This tour will conclude with a visit to Oak Ridge
Cemetery, where stops will be made at Lincoln's Tomb, plus the Illinois'
Vietnam Veterans and Korean War Memorials. Fee includes trolley
transportation and site donations.

A variety of menu's highlighting Springfield's delicious and unique
food offerings will be available at the Hospitality booth. Conference
hosts will escort individuals or groups signing up by 5:30pm to the
restaurants of their choice.
