Join us for dessert and visit with your colleagues! ___________________________ Fargo Theatre The Fargo Theatre was listed in USA Today as one of "10 great places to revel in cinematic grandeur." Tours have limited seating, so please reserve your space early. Bonanzaville USA Tour Bonanzaville (named after the Bonanza farms of the late 19th century) is an historic village of over 40 buildings depicting life in the Red River Valley in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Visitors travel back to the time when bonanza farm homes dotted the wheat-blanketed plains and the general store was spilling over with merchandise. The tour includes authentic log cabins, a sod house, a church, a schoolhouse, a train depot, and a bonanza farm mansion. Each building is filled with period furnishings and artifacts. In addition, Bonanzaville features a main museum housing Native American artifacts, dolls, world war memorabilia and much more. Vintage automobile, tractor and airplane museums are a part of the village. Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center and Red River Tour Hjemkomst (Yem-komst) is Norwegian for "Homecoming." The center shows how one man's dream became a reality. Robert Asp of Moorhead dreamed of building a replica Viking Ship and sailing it to Norway, the land of his ancestors. Photographs, recordings and an award-winning documentary chronicles the construction of the 76-foot, hand-built Viking ship Hjemkomst and its incredible 6,000-mile voyage across the Atlantic in 1982. The ship is on display at the Center, along with the Hopperstad Stave Church Replica and the Clay County Historical Museum. "Stavkirke" is Norwegian for "Stave Church," a church built using long log columns as central supports. The Stave Church, in Viking Ship Park, is a replica of the Stavkirke in Vik, Norway, which dates from the late 1100's. The church replica is used for weddings, cultural and educational events, as well as guided tours offered by the Heritage Hjemkomst Center. Part of this tour will also include a visit to the Red River, an important part of Fargo and Moorhead's history. We will be riding the S.S. Ruby Pontoon Boat on a relaxing 45 minute trip on the Red River. A knowledgeable captain will tell about the history, geography, and wildlife that live in and along the river. The S.S. Ruby is owned and operated by the River Keepers. Stitcher's Shop Hop Looking for inspiration or just adding to your stash? We will visit a unique needlework shop, two wonderful quilt shops, and a fabric outlet store. Our plans include a stop at the Nordic Needle which specializes in Hardanger embroidery, tatting, cross stitch, and stitching accessories or embellishments. Rae-Bon Quilt and Sewing Center and Stitch It are two local quilt shops that always have irresistible fat quarters. Mill End Textiles Outlet includes quilting cottons and goes beyond to include fleece and material for draperies and upholstery. Leave the parka at home because you will need the space in your luggage for your purchases. Naturally, we will find a moment to stop for chocolate! So, bring that fabric swatch you want to match and hop on the bus!
