The Midwest Chapter Awards and Scholarships Committee invites you to start thinking about who amongst all of your stand-out chapter colleagues you would like to nominate for the chapter’s 2007 Distinguished Librarian of the Year Award.
The Distinguished Librarian of the Year Award recognizes chapter members who have made outstanding professional contributions to health sciences librarianship and the chapter. The winner receives a commemorative plaque and a check for $500. The award is announced and presented at the chapter’s annual meeting.
The Distinguished Librarian of the Year Award was established and first presented in 2005 to Christopher Shaffer (IA). Carole Gilbert (MI) received the award in 2006.
To qualify, nominees must be members of the Midwest Chapter at the time of nomination and for at least three years prior. Criteria used to evaluate nominees include but are not limited to: leadership, advocacy, scholarship, research, publications, presentations, teaching, training, mentoring, outreach, professional activities, and meaningful and measurable service to the chapter.
Nominations must include: a current resume or vitae of the nominee; a letter of nomination stating why the nominee should be recognized; and two additional letters of support for the nomination.
The deadline for nominations for the 2007 Distinguished Librarian of the Year Award is August 17, 2007. The award will be announced and presented at the chapter’s 2007 Annual Business Meeting on October 15 at the 2007 Joint Chapter Meeting in Omaha.
