Two Annual Meeting Scholarships to be Awarded

The Midwest Chapter/MLA Awards and Scholarships Committee is offering two $500 scholarships to either library science students or recent graduates to help support their attendance at the chapter’s 2007 annual meeting. The Midwest Chapter’s 2007 meeting will be a joint meeting with the Midcontinental Chapter and is scheduled for October 12-16 in Omaha, Nebraska.

To qualify, applicants must be: students in or recent graduates of an ALA-accredited masters program in library science/information studies; a resident of one of the chapter’s nine states; and a member of the chapter. (Note: Student memberships are free!)

Applications must include: a resume or vitae detailing education, awards, honors, memberships, publications, and/or special skills; an academic transcript; at least one letter of reference from a library school faculty member or a Midwest Chapter member; and a cover letter explaining the applicant’s interest in health sciences librarianship and attending the chapter conference.

Recipients will be asked submit a brief article about their conference experience for MIDLINE.

Applications for the 2007 Annual Meeting Scholarships must be received by August 17, 2007. Award recipients will be notified by August 31, 2007.

Please consult the Awards and Scholarships Committee page at the chapter website for complete application information or contact Committee Chair Sheryl Stevens via e-mail or phone: 419-530-7981.
