Website Redesign Survey Results

Thank you to everyone that completed the Midwest Chapter/MLA Website Redesign survey. We had 113 responses, which is a great number!

The vast majority (over 80%) of the respondents are infrequent visitors to the Midwest Chapter/MLA website. They report visiting only monthly or less, perhaps most visits occur as annual conference time approaches. The most commonly visited areas of the site are the MIDLINE and the annual conference areas.

Regarding the comments from respondents, a few themes emerged:

  • Keeping the content current and verifying the accuracy of links

  • A membership database that has active email address information and possibly member’s areas of expertise

  • More in the area of education topics and recommended readings: technology, value of libraries, grant opportunities, etc.

    • It seemed like respondents were generally happy with the MIDLINE newsletter, and annual conference information.

    Common recommendations for improvement included:

  • Checking the accuracy of links, some pages not updated on a regular basis

  • Have a more current look and feel, especially the graphics

  • Simpler/easier navigation scheme

  • Make the CE and annual conference information more prominent

    • Additional ideas generated by the survey:

  • Add a blog or RSS feeds for conference and membership information

  • Include a Google search tool

  • Make committee information (chairs, members, etc) more prominent

  • Verify that navigation labels match the content
