The Midwest Chapter/MLA is pleased to provide its members with the opportunity to once again receive a total of over $3,000 in awards and scholarships during 2008.
Included in this year's awards are:
- Two Annual Meeting Scholarships ($500 each) to support attendance of students or recent graduates at the chapter's annual meeting.
- Two Professional Development Awards ($500 each) to support first-time attendance of members at the chapter's annual meeting.
- The Midwest Chapter/MLA Distinguished Librarian Award ($500) which recognizes a member who has made outstanding contributions to health sciences librarianship and the chapter.
- The Jean Williams Sayre Innovation Award ($500) which recognizes individuals, groups, organizations, and/or libraries for their creative approaches to health information delivery and management.
Complete application and nomination information about all of these awards is available at http://midwestmla.org/committees/awards/. While the August 18, 2008 deadline seems far off, it will be here before you know it! Thus, the Awards & Scholarships Committee encourages you to get a head start on gathering your application and/or nomination materials.
A note about the Professional Development Award: As of 2008, the professional experience requirement has been reduced from three years to one year to provide more chapter members with the chance to apply.
