Meet Our Newest Members

Mary Dumar is a medical librarian at Saint Anthony Medical Center and Saint Anthony College of Nursing in Rockford, IL. Her main responsibilities are reference and literature searches, interlibrary loan, circulation and cataloging. She states she is interested in everything about medical librarianship. "I worked for six years in a public library and enjoyed it," Mary says. "But I feel like I won the job jackpot when I was hired for my first professional position at Saint Anthony Medical Center. I started my job in January, and every day has brought new challenges and joys. We have an awesome library team, and I feel privileged to work with the other members in such an awesome profession!" Mary has an undergraduate degree in music from the University of Northern Iowa. She received her MLIS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008. She is a native of Roscoe, IL. Mary enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies and traveling.

Toby Gibson is the circulation manager at the library of Rush University Medical Center in his hometown of Chicago, IL. His management responsibilities include supervision of six full-time staff members. As one of five medical reference librarians, Toby also works with walk-in and online chat reference clients, performs computer searches and teaches classes and performs orientations for the Colleges of Nursing, Medicine, and Health Sciences as well as the Graduate College. Toby received a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle in 1980 and received his MSLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1994. He has been married twenty-nine years and has three children and two cats. His hobbies include cats, preservation of Chicago's wetlands, Web development, photography, PhotoShop, military and nautical history, and military and nautical medicine.

Heather Klepitsch is the library director of the Saint Anthony Medical Center Library and Saint Anthony College of Nursing Library (Sister Mary Linus Learning Resource Center) at the Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL. She oversees the daily operations and continuing development and improvement of both libraries.

Her professional interests include nursing education, medical literature searches, Web 2.0 tools and new technology. Heather graduated from the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008. She received her undergraduate degree in zoology from Miami University of Ohio. Heather's hometown is Dekalb, IL. Her hobbies include reading, hiking and cooking. Heather and husband Dave own two rescued ex-racing greyhounds named Maisy and Emma.

Mary Lasquety is a library assistant at the Sister Stella Louise Health Sciences Library and the Luken Health Sciences Library at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She fills DOCLINE and other ILL requests, does serials and book check-in and is the e-content contact person. She has a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. Mary's hometown is Chicago, IL.

Rebecca Raszewski is an assistant services librarian and assistant professor at the Library of the Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is the liaison to the College of Nursing and teaches workshops both in person and online. She is also the reference collection coordinator, works at the reference desk and conducts email and instant messaging reference. Her professional interests include Web 2.0, collection development, cataloging and nursing. She received her bachelor's degree in English from La Salle University and is a 2003 graduate of the Library and Information Science program at Drexel University. Rebecca is originally from Philadelphia, PA. She loves to make desserts.

Kelly Thormodson is the coordinator for education and research at the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She oversees reference services and coordinates education activities within the library. She also manages the library liaison program, which works with health science departments and colleges as well as the University's hospitals and clinics. Kelly's professional interests include education and training. She has a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in English from North Dakota State University and graduated with MLIS from the University of Iowa in 1998. Her hometown is Dalton, MN. Kelly spent the last ten years working at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. Her hobbies include reading and wine appreciation: "Like most librarians, I love to read and I vary my acquisition methods to include library borrowing, purchase of print and downloading to my Kindle," she says.
