Anna Biszaha is a Research & Education Services Associate at the Health Sciences Library of The Ohio State University. She is responsible for providing reference assistance, in-depth consultations, and bibliographic instruction, and serving as liaison to the College of Dentistry. Anna has a BA in Philosophy & German from The Ohio State University, and earned her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008. Her hobbies and interests include “watching movies, practicing my German, and getting distracted by cats.”

Erin Foster

 

Erin Foster is the Data Services Librarian at Ruth Lilly Medical Library, Indiana University Purdue University (IUPUI). Her job includes working on university and campus-wide initiatives to develop services, policies, and infrastructure that enable faculty and students to curate, share, and preserve research data.  She also advocates for and promotes the “value of research data services within the institution by collaborating with members of the Indiana School of Medicine, the University Library Center for Digital Scholarship, and Indiana University more broadly.”  Erin is a former National Library of Medicine (NLM) Fellow where she spent time at the NLM on the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, MD and, most recently, at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. As a Fellow, Erin worked on projects related to data standardization, biomedical ontology development, assessment of public health graduate students, and the promotion of open science. Her professional interests include data curation, management, sharing, and preservation; ontologies, terminologies, and controlled vocabularies; and open science and open research efforts. This Paradise, CA native has undergraduate degrees in Literature and Feminist Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Erin received her MSLS from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) and worked as a graduate research assistant at UNC-CH’s Health Sciences Library. Erin is an active member of the Medical Library Association and serves as the editor for the Research Section’s journal, Hypothesis.  She has been a member of several MLA chapters, namely Pacific Northwest and Mid-Atlantic, and looks forward to being actively involved in the Midwest chapter.

 

Kathy Koch is a Librarian at the Resource Center Library of Aurora Medical Center Grafton (part of Aurora Health Care) in Grafton, WI. She is responsible for literature searches, instruction, and website maintenance, and serves “as an embedded librarian on hospital and system-wide committees.” Her professional interests include history of nursing and medicine. She adds, “After a 15 year career as an archivist – 12 of those years working for a nursing association in the Chicago area – I’ve moved back to Wisconsin and am transitioning into my new career as a medical librarian.”

This Milwaukee, WI native has a BA in English from Marquette University and earned her MLIS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. When asked about her personal hobbies and interests, she stated, “I love to travel and have taken solo trips to Europe, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. My dream trip is a safari to Kenya and Tanzania. I also do a lot of baking, and my latest area of experimentation is yeast breads.”

Cecilia Railey

Cecilia Railey is on the faculty of the University of Louisville and is contracted out to KentuckyOne Health as a Clinical Librarian. From her base at Saint Joseph Hospital, she provides library and research support to that institution and seven other regional hospitals in central and eastern Kentucky. Her job also involves outreach and instruction in the use of the virtual library resources. Cecilia is a native of Springfield, KY, and has an undergraduate degree in Sociology with a concentration in Social Work from the University of Louisville, and received her MSLS from the University of Kentucky in 2011. Her professional interests include consumer health, nursing information, and continuing medical education. Her personal hobbies and interests include “reading (currently reading Lab Girl, Underground Railroad, and Thank You for Being Late); basketball; and running.” Cecilia has “become an avid connoisseur of library catalog cabinets (LOVE these!).” She adds, “I am a die-hard fan of positivity and believe that there’s never a problem too big to overcome…learned this from my Mother, a two-time cancer survivor.”
