News from the Mayo Clinic Libraries

Joyce McFadden and Cynthia Beeler have accepted new employment opportunities with the Mayo Clinic Libraries.

Joyce McFadden has accepted the position of Public Services Supervisor for the Plummer Library. At the Plummer Library, Joyce will supervise the Circulation, Interlibrary Loan and Reference departments (including literature searching and systematic reviews). Joyce comes to Mayo Clinic from the Baylor Health Sciences Library at the Texas A & M University College of Dentistry in Dallas where she has served as the Public Services and Interlibrary Loan Librarian since 2011. Joyce’s past experience also includes employment with Baylor Regional Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas. Joyce received her Master of Library Science degree from the University of North Texas. She is an active member of the Medical Library Association and is also credentialed as a member of MLA’s Academy of Health Information Professionals. Joyce’s professional activities include publishing, continuing education and participation in various national and local professional library associations.

Cynthia Beeler has accepted the role of Academic Medical Librarian and will be the librarian for Rochester’s Learning Resource Center within Mitchell Student Center. Cynthia began her post-graduate career by completing a two-year fellowship with the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. Next, she worked for two years as the Reference Librarian and Assistant Curator at the Ehrman Medical Library at the New York University School of Medicine. Since 2005, Cynthia has been the Clinical Information Librarian and an Associate Professor at the Preston Medical Library at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville. At Mayo Clinic, Cynthia will coordinate academic library services delivered in Rochester with a special focus on serving the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Cynthia has her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Cynthia currently chairs the Credentialing Committee for the Medical Library Association and her professional activities include numerous publications, paper and poster presentations, grant awards and broad involvement in several medical library organizations.
