Meet Chase Masters, the Chapter’s new Archivist. Chase is the Enabling Technologies Informationist at the Taubman Health Sciences Library (THSL) of the University of Michigan (U-M). Chase received his Bachelor of Science degree in Technology – Visual Communication Technology (College of Technology) and his Master of Education degree – Learning Design & Development (Graduate College), both from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio.
In his position at THSL, Chase’s responsibilities include managing technology projects and resources, consulting with faculty to effectively incorporate technology into their curriculum, supervising staff, serving on the management team, and identifying and building partnerships with instructional technology units throughout the U-M community.
Chase became the new Archivist for Midwest Chapter/MLA in late 2018. In this role, he is transitioning the archives to an all-digital format. All new materials will be preserved using the online Box service and will be organized using folders, tags, and additional descriptions. All text files will be searchable, and a drop box has been developed for easy uploading. This new method will enable items to be quickly located and shared upon request; the holdings will be regularly backed up so Midwest Chapter/MLA’s important files will not be lost.
