The Website Redesign Special Committee, appointed by the president, has been charged with task of evaluation, planning, site-architecture and visual design, implementation, and testing required to relaunch the Midwest Chapter, Medical Library Association’s web site (http://midwestmla.org).
Among the many goals of this redesign are to: improve the visual presentation of the web site to Midwest Chapter members and prospective members; facilitate the ease of navigation for all web site users; incorporate the usage of various new technologies such as blog and wiki; and improve the functionality of the web site in order to facilitate chapter business needs.
Chapter membership will be active participants in the planning stages as well as the development of design ideas and usability testing. Some anticipated elements of the new site include: site will have pretty basic top level navigation (tabs or persistent menus), will have consistent design elements site-wide, will be accessible via WC3 standards, and will have both static and dynamic or database-driven elements
This process will include (but not limited to) the following:
- develop, conduct, and analyze survey results to solicit feedback from members regarding current site
- create a design based upon this feedback
- conduct usability testing and gather additional feedback
- demonstration to Board at Spring Board meeting
- final editing based upon Board recommendations
- launch of new site
The Special Committee shall complete its work in 2008.
